Bangkok is one of the easiest regional escapes from Singapore: a direct flight of a little over two hours, generous visa-free entry, and one free form to file before you fly. Here is what to plan around.

Flights

Non-stop flights from Changi to Bangkok take about 2 hours 20 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes. Full-service carriers (Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways) and Scoot fly to Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Bangkok’s main airport; budget carriers such as AirAsia and Thai Lion Air generally use Don Mueang (DMK). Fares move a lot with demand and the season, so book ahead and compare the all-in price including baggage.

Entry rules

Singapore citizens enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism under the Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme (TVES). Since 1 May 2025, every non-Thai traveller - including visa-exempt Singaporeans - must submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 72 hours before arrival. Your passport must be valid at least six months.

A note on the change: with effect from 15 September 2026, Thailand reduced the visa-free stay for Singaporeans from 60 to 30 days. Travellers who entered on the old 60-day exemption before that date keep the stay they were originally granted.

Budgeting

Your biggest variables are the flight and your hotel; Bangkok’s food, local transport (the BTS and MRT) and markets are inexpensive once you are there.
