Singapore to Bali: Flights, Visa and Budget
Direct flights from Changi to Bali's Denpasar (DPS) take about 2h40 to 2h55. Singapore citizens enter visa-free for 30 days, but every foreign visitor must also pay Bali's IDR 150,000 tourist levy and file the free All Indonesia arrival card before arriving.
Bali is a short hop from Singapore - a direct flight of under three hours - and for Singaporeans the paperwork is light: no visa for a short holiday. The catches are two small formalities you arrange before you fly: Bali’s tourist levy and Indonesia’s free arrival card. Here is the plan.
Trip basics
The essentials for a Bali trip from Singapore are below.

Flights
Non-stop flights from Changi to Denpasar - Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) - take about 2 hours 40 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes. Full-service carriers such as Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia fly the route alongside Scoot and other budget airlines (Jetstar, Indonesia AirAsia, Batik Air, TransNusa). Fares swing hard with school holidays and long weekends, so book early and compare the all-in price including checked bags.
Entry rules for Singaporeans
Singapore passport holders enter Indonesia visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, under the A1 visa exemption - free, with nothing to apply for in advance. Your passport must be valid at least six months and you should be able to show an onward or return ticket.
Before you land, file the All Indonesia arrival declaration, a single free digital form that bundles the immigration arrival card, customs and health declarations. Submit it on the official site within the few days before arrival.
The Bali tourist levy
Separately from any visa, Bali charges every foreign tourist a levy of IDR 150,000 (about US$10) per person. It is paid once per trip, not per entry, and it applies to Singaporeans and to children travelling on a foreign passport.
Pay it on the official Love Bali portal (lovebali.baliprov.go.id) or app before you fly - by card, bank transfer, virtual account, UnionPay or QRIS - and you receive a QR-code voucher by email to show on arrival. If you have not paid in advance, there are counters at the airport and at Benoa Port, but settling it online first spares you the queue.
Budgeting a Bali trip
Your two biggest costs are the flight and your accommodation; the rest of Bali is easy on the wallet. Local food, scooter rental and hired drivers are inexpensive, so most of a sensible budget goes on getting there and where you sleep.
Arriving at Denpasar
Flights land at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), a short drive from the main tourist areas of Kuta, Seminyak and Jimbaran, with Ubud and the east coast further on. Clearing the airport is quicker when your paperwork is already done: have the All Indonesia confirmation and your Love Bali levy voucher ready to show, since both can be checked on arrival. If you did not pay the levy online, you can settle it at a counter in the arrivals area, but that usually means joining a queue after a long flight.
Agree the fare before you get in a taxi or ride-hail car, or use the airport’s official transport desk, and keep small rupiah notes for tips and local stalls. For moving money and avoiding poor exchange rates, our money and currency guide covers cards versus cash across the region.
Before you fly: a quick checklist
A short run-through saves trouble at the gate and the counter:
- A passport valid at least six months from your arrival date, with blank pages.
- An onward or return ticket you can show if asked.
- The All Indonesia arrival card filed online in the days before you land (free).
- The Bali tourist levy paid on the official Love Bali portal, with the QR voucher saved (IDR 150,000 per person).
- Travel insurance and any medication you need, in its original packaging.
